Characters

Slender plants, strawberries extend runners or rhizomes to spread. They produce leaves divided into 3 leaflets, all with toothed edges. The flowers extend above on leafless stalks. They comprise 5 white petals. Fruits are the swollen fleshy receptacle with the achenes buried in pits or atop the surface. They are green, followed by white and eventually ripening to the familiar red that we know and love.
