Forming dense bristly colonies, this rose produces copious numbers of flowers. Flowers may be single or double, white or pink. The young stems are densely pubescent. Leaves are divided into 5–9 leaflets, all rough on the upper surfaces.The large rose hips, have persistent sepals and may exceed 2cm in diameter. Their surface is mostly smooth, in contrast with our native species. Watch for flowers from June into September with fruit produced until frost.

Used For
Rose hips are generally used in jelly and there are many recipes available for both cooked and uncooked versions. Generally they need to be strained to remove the fibres. Uncooked, it is said that the content of Vitamin C is 25 times that of oranges.
