Characters

A succulent annual, the fleshy stems and leaves may be reddish. Plants are prostrate, rarely exceeding 10cm long. The leaves are club-shaped. The tiny pale yellow flowers open only in full sun.

Geography

Mostly in the Annapolis Valley but spreading east and northward.

Used For

Plants are delicious in salads or steamed, added to soups, stews or pasta dishes. Apparently rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Species has several herbal uses.
