Characters

An agressively growing herbaceous vine, where found, it prduces leaves divided into three leaflets. The white to purplish flowers sink below the soil after pollination in August and produce subterranean beans which are edible. This plant can't be considered a major wild edible as each plant produces only a few beans.

Locally common from Shelburne and Cumberland counties, northward. In Cape Breton, known only from the Northeast Margaree River valley.
