This small shrub arises from rhizomes with many shiny ovate leaves. Small pinkish bell-shaped flowers appear in June, followed by small green to red to purplish berries.

Used For

Delicious when cooked as cranberries: sauces, jams, jellies or added to cakes, muffins and duffs. In Newfoundland, the foxberry is called the partridgeberry. There is a small cottage industry of jams and preserves using this fruit.
