This chickweed is a small sprawling and colonial herb with opposite stemless leaves. Its flowers are tiny and white, with 5 petals. Plants are hairless but for a single row of hairs along the main stem.

Cautions

All members of the genus may be considered edible in similar fashion. Those belonging to Cerastium may be eaten, but are more pleasant cooked as greens or potherbs in mixtures. Their stems and leaves are hairy.
